Spring has finally arrived! And while spring cleaning may be something on your radar, have you thought about spring cleaning for your plumbing?
Here are some spring plumbing tips to take advantage of this season.
Check your hose bibs
- Check your faucets for any leaks. If you find one that is leaking, contact a professional plumber to come repair it. While this may seem like an easy job to take care of yourself, there are a variety of faucet heads available, and you don’t want to do more damage from where you started.
Check the faucets, drains and toilets inside your home
- Inspect your kitchen, bathroom and laundry faucets as well as your indoor drains and toilets for leaks or clogs. You can take care of preventative drain cleaning yourself, and spring is the perfect time to do this. Check out our do-it-yourself YouTube video.
Clean your gutters, downspouts and drains
- Clean out your gutters and downspouts from leaves, dirt and debris left over from fall and winter seasons. Doing proper maintenance and repairs of your drainage can save you costly plumbing bills in the future. Properly maintain your drain tiles by cleaning them out every 12-18 months, to avoid such problems as blockages from debris, or worse structural damage due to root growth or land settling. These are just a few ways to set your home up for success this season. Happy spring cleaning!
