jjs custom plumbing tankless hot water heater

Is it time to purchase a new hot water tank? Before you do, learn the facts about the benefits of purchasing and installing a tankless water heater for your home.

The Trend

You’ve likely heard about the recent trend that is available – the “tankless” water heater. People who live in a larger household have probably gone through dealing with a shower that runs out of hot water after a couple of family members have taken one. Obviously this isn’t ideal for the fast-paced world we live in, when we’ve got lots on-the-go. Not to mention, this leads to getting into or ending with a cold shower (brrr!), which no one enjoys! This is just one example of how the trend of “going tankless” offers both convenience, as well as energy-saving benefits.

Benefits of Going Tankless

  1. Convenience: Hot Water on Demand

A tankless water heater provides hot water on demand – you get hot water instantly. This makes for a good choice for families living in the same house together, as it eliminates time spent waiting for hot water (and likely relieves some arguments that may occur!). Further to this, most tankless heaters are about a third of the size of a tank heater and can be easily mounted on the wall because of their light weight and slim profile – saving you space.

  1. Cost Savings

Tankless water heaters save you money on water and Hydro bills in the long run. Why? Because water supply is only heated when the hot water is turned on. Tankless water heaters also last two to three times longer than a regular hot water tank. They average 15-20 plus years – this means that the tankless water heater pays for itself within the first 5 years!

  1. Energy Savings

As previously explained, water is only heated when hot water is turned on. Tankless uses less energy than tank heaters, and eliminates wasted cold water, as a tankless heater does not have to refill or reheat at any time.

  1. Cleaner Water

Tankless water heaters provide you with cleaner water compared to water coming from a tank. Why? Water that comes out of the tankless heater is not exposed to additional sediment that may build up in the tank. Most people with a regular hot water tank have to drain it every few months to reduce the build-up of sediment. This never happens with a tankless water heater. No worries!
